The Department of Biostatistics and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Boston University (BU) is proud to host the 36th New England Statistics Symposium on June 3 - 6, 2023. As an annual event, the symposium has been bringing together statisticians from all over New England and beyond to a central location to share research, discuss emerging issues in the field, and network with colleagues since its inaugural edition in 1987. The symposium will be hybrid, with in-person sessions held in Boston (BU Charles river campus) and all sessions broadcast live via Whova. Please refer to the BU Guest page for internet access on the BU campus.
Short courses will be offered on June 3 and 4, and the main conference program will be on June 5 and 6. We will have keynote sessions, keynote panel, invited sessions, and a poster session. Students are encouraged to participate in the research and poster competitions and a Statathon data challenge. The keynote talks will be delivered by Dr. Francesca Dominici (Harvard University) and Dr. Jeffrey Rosenthal (University of Toronto) and a banquet talk will be given by Dr. Jennifer Hill (New York University) and a Chernoff Lecture to be delivered by the recipient of the Chernoff Excellence in Statistics Award. Here is a link to the NESS history with the previous prestigious keynote speakers: https://nestat.org/events/symposium/.
Please check the session schedule page for more details. We look forward to having an interesting and vibrant symposium!
