Statathon

Statathon is an annual event at NESS where we invite anyone who aspires to be a data scientist to work on a real-world data science problem sponsored by our industry partners. As the name suggests, the emphasis is placed on the statistical aspects (insight, interpretation, significance, etc.) often overlooked in many hackathons elsewhere. Bring your passion and creativity, and show everyone how you will approach the problem innovatively. It’s a great way to network and jump-start your career.

This year, we have two new exciting projects from our returning sponsors:

• Apply your expertise in causal inference and time series methods to data from HSB Sensor Solutions to extract insights on customer behavior and insurance risk.
• Using your machine learning skills, show us how we can detect fraudulent claims more effectively in the fraud detection competition sponsored by Travelers
